New National 0820 Number Range
School Plan 1 and 2 are two tariffs designed specifically for Schools to gain low, fixed cost access to the Internet. School Plan 1 provides analogue access and School Plan 2 digital access.
The main objective is to help local young people to develop and strengthen their information technology skills, by reducing the cost of connection to the service, making it more accessible and affordable for schools within the Kingston Communications Network area.
New National 0820 Number Range
Internet Service Providers (ISPs) across the UK are being encouraged to offer on-line access to services with a high educational content on the Internet via a new, 0820 number range. The two packages are designed to use these new 0820 numbers. These packages and their special call rates will not apply to any other number ranges.
The School Plan tariffs are restricted to Schools, which are defined in statute, as those whose primary purpose is the education of young people of statutory school age. In England and Wales this means ‘a local Education Authority maintained or grant maintained school as referred to in section 505 (8) of the Education Act 1996, or an independent school registered under section 464 of that act or a special school which is neither maintained nor grant maintained and which is approved under section 342 of that act’
These definitions include independent and special schools. They include schools with sixth form colleges incorporated, but exclude stand alone sixth form colleges as these fall within the definition of Further Education Colleges.
The School Plan tariffs are currently restricted to Schools whose Internet Service Provider are connected directly to either the BT or Kingston Communications network. Additional Tariffs will be registered when information from other operators is made available.

© ISDN2 for schools was an interim tariff. This tariff is no longer available. Existing ISDN2 for schools customers may continue on this tariff until the end of their current contractual year. They will then be advised to move to a tariff appropriate to their specific needs.
