International Operator Services

This Section contains charges for calls through the 155 International Operator Service to overseas countries (with the exception of calls to the Irish Republic, which can be found in the UK Operator section of this Price Manual), Inmarsat services and Global Mobile Satellite systems. In addition details are also given of other services available through the International Operator, these include advice of the duration and charge of a call, collect calls, person-to-person calls and international call connection services.

There is no charge for making a call to the 155 operator, charges only apply when the services described in this Section are requested.

Operator-connected calls generally have two parts: an Operator Service Charge, which is a fixed amount for each call, and a Call Charge based on the type of call, when it is made and how long it lasts. This section describes the Call Charges.

Call durations are measured to a fraction of a second and the call charge is rounded to the nearest 10th of a penny. The timed duration of a call includes the time element for setting up and disconnecting the call on the BT network.

All charges which appear on a Kingston customers bill for calls made via the International Operator are calculated by BT according to BT’s published tariffs, BT advise Kingston of the amounts to be included on customers bills. It should be noted that, due to BTs prices rapidly changing, the charges billed for these calls may not be precisely in keeping with the prices shown in this Price List. However the charges billed will be the BT standard tariffs for the services charged by BT at the time the services were provided. International Calls From Ordinary Residential And Business Lines

International Call Charges to Mobile Telephones

International calls to some mobile telephones will be charged at 21.27p exc. VAT (24.46p inc. VAT) per minute (minimum call charge of 5 minutes) more than the equivalent International call to fixed telephones. Pricing Information Notes:

International Operator - Calls to Midway Is, Tristan Da Cuhna and Wake Is are only available via the international operator (dial 155).

Pitcairn Islands - Calls to the Pitcairn Islands are via the INMARSAT `Mini-M' service. INMARSAT `Mini-M' call charges apply.

Collect Calls

A Collect Call is an international reverse charge call. It is paid for by the person receiving the call rather than the one making it. This page contains charges for Collect calls from overseas to Kingston lines in the UK. A Collect Call is be made through the local overseas operator.

Eligibility

• Collect Calls can be made to any ordinary line in the United Kingdom, but not to mobile, pager, freefone, number translation service numbers (such as 0800, 0845 and 0870) or payphone numbers.

Pricing Information

• Call charges are for each minute or part of a minute.
• There is also a Collect Call Service Charge, which is a fixed amount for each call. This is added to the call charge.
• The minimum charge is for five minute. There is no charge if the call cannot be connected.

• The called person must agree to pay for the call before it is connected.

International Call Connection (Station-To-Station Calls)

The operator connects the caller to an overseas number.

Eligibility

• This service is available from Kingston ordinary lines and Kingston payphones for calls to most parts of the world, including countries where International Direct Dialling (IDD) is not available. Calls can also be made to Inmarsat, European Mobile Satellite, International Universal Personal number range (00 87810) and Global Mobile Satellite numbers, but not from payphones.

Pricing Information

• The operator service charge is £4.255 Exc VAT (£4.89 Inc VAT) and is added to the call charge.
• There is no charge if the call cannot be connected.

Special Assistance International Operator Call Charges

This Section contains charges for calls through the 198 Special Assistance International Operator Service to overseas countries, Inmarsat services, International Universal Personal number range (00 87810) and Global Mobile Satellite systems. It does not include calls to the Republic of Ireland.

Customers (e.g Disabled Customer who cannot dial or have difficulty dialling their own calls and need assistance) may use the BT Special Assistance Operator to connect calls to many destinations. Operator Controlled call charges for such customers are different from those calls made via the 155 Operator Service.

There is no charge for making a call to the 198 Operator. Charges only apply when the services described in this Section are requested.

Charges for calls made through the Special Assistance Operator service are shown in this Part.

Eligibility

The 198 Special Assistance Operator is for Disabled Customers who cannot dial or have difficulty dialling their own calls.

Non-Payphone call charges are for each minute or part of a minute with the exception of calls to the Iridium and Thuraya services where the minimum fee is £1.50 (exc. VAT)

Payphone call charges are for each minute or part of a minute.
