118 Directory Enquiries using a Chargecard

Service Description

Allows calls from public payphones and most private phones to be charged back to the customers’ account.
Charge cards are supplied free, and you can have as many cards for one account as the customer requires.
Separate PIN numbers will be allocated for each account or each card.
The itemised bill is sent to the account holders only.
Each separate card can select a different option as to the limit of type calls that can be made using it, as well as the credit limit on each chargecard.

Options Available

Self Dialled Calling

Place direct calls using PIN (no operator).

Specific Number Only

Allows maximum control.
Dials one pre-selected number automatically.
Calls one number only e.g. office gives control over employees.
Very accurate, saves dialling hassle and time.

National and Specified Number

As above, but additional flexibility of allowing national UK calls as well.
Does not allow international calls on this service

International, National Quick Call

You can call anywhere in the UK and outside the UK to any country with IDD and can use the short code Quickcall number facility too

Operator Connected Calling

Allows operator connected calls to be made to numbers within the UK and overseas
Can call UK from overseas, even from some ships and ferries

How to Use

The Chargecard holder simply dials 144 from any M.F. telephone in the country
The caller is then instructed to enter their Chargecard number and their PIN
The number to be called is then dialled

Inland Call Charges

There is a minimum charge of 17.021p (exc. VAT), 20.00p (inc.VAT) for all calls up to 60 seconds in duration. After the first 60 seconds, per second charging will apply except in the case of calls to the Iridium and Thuraya services where the minimum fee is £1.50 (exc. VAT), £1.77 (inc. VAT). Chargecard calls originating from mobiles are charged at the same rate as direct dialled calls within the UK. Call charges are rounded to the nearest 10th of a penny.

In addition to the above call charges, a facility fee of £1.489 exc. VAT (£1.750 inc. VAT) will be charged for all operator controlled calls regardless of type. All operator controlled calls will be charged in one minute blocks, and subject to a one minute minimum charge.

International Call Charges

Direct Dialled (IDD) & Operator Controlled Outgoing

Prices are expressed in pence per minute and are exclusive of VAT, however direct dialled calls are measured in seconds and are priced to the second. Calls lasting less than one second will be timed as a one second call. Call charges will be rounded down to a 10th of a penny.

A minimum charge of 8.085p exc. VAT (9.500 inc. VAT) will apply to each direct dialled call.

Call Charges - KC Direct

KC Direct enables customers abroad to make calls back to the UK or to other countries.

Calls To The UK

The UK system is accessed directly by dialling an international toll-free number. Payment is made either by KC Chargecard, KC Call Service, International Incoming Collect (Reverse Charge). Rates for Incoming Collect (Reverse Charge) are shown in the Operator Services Section.

Directory Enquiries for UK numbers are available to customers via KC Direct. The charge is added to the cost of the KC Direct
