Kcom at the core of communications in Sentry42’s first colocation data centre.

Kcom, part of the KCOM Group, has been appointed by Sentry42 to provide the communications services for its new colocation data centre in Norwich, over a three-year contract.

Managing the local area network (LAN) and the IP addressing for the data centre, Kcom is also providing all of the communications and direct internet access services for Sentry42 and its customers, providing them with the reassurance that all of their communications and internet needs have been addressed.

Kcom was selected to deliver critical connectivity to the site, as it is the only provider of communication services to the site that can provide, install and maintain Cisco, Avaya, F5 and Juniper equipment.

Sentry42 is the colocation arm of Migration Solutions, the UK's leading independent Computer Room and Data Centre Specialist, and this is the first datacentre to be opened and managed by the business.

The datacentre is 6,000 square metres in size, two thirds of the size of The London Olympic Stadium. It is capable of housing 1,000 racks. Sentry42 is in the process of completely stripping and refurbishing the site, which is being designed around the EU Code of Conduct for Datacentre Efficiency. As a consequence it features a range of energy efficient technologies, including the use of outside air to cool the site, and LED bulbs which will save up to 90% of energy costs for lighting. The site is highly secure, with biometric access to the datacentre halls, proximity access control and a 24/7 security centre.
