Kcom, part of the KCOM Group, attended Bolton Council’s IT Innovation day last week (Monday 28 March) as one of their key ICT partners to discuss the Future of Work and meet internal stakeholders.

Andy Wood, Head of Communications and Collaboration at Kcom, provided the keynote speech to Bolton Council’s senior managers to provide an overview of the changing landscape of IT consumerisation, the role technology plays at work and what sort of effect it will have on employees.

The day was a valuable opportunity for Kcom to demonstrate thought leadership surrounding the Future of Work as well as demonstrate capabilities offered by communication and collaboration tools available now. The workplace will hugely evolve over the next 20 years and organisations will need to move with the times to be able to meet the extensive needs and requirements of the workforce.”

The aim of the internal event was to give employees the chance to meet Bolton Council’s ICT partners and ask them questions, as well as develop an understanding of how the organisation is currently supported by technology and infrastructure. It was also a chance for the ICT partners to demonstrate their product portfolio and capabilities giving attendees the opportunity to experience for themselves, the future of work.

Mario Devargas, IT Director at Bolton Council says: “The day was about relationship building and introducing my customers, the employees of Bolton Council, to our partners who provide valuable ICT support. Employees do not often know who an organisation’s key partners are – at least this way they can ask questions and find out who does what and be more informed about how the ‘back office’ of the work place is structured.”

Kcom has worked with Bolton Council for over four years and manages all communications, covering LAN and WAN, mobile, internet and IP telephony. Kcom recently undertook a mid-term contract audit which delivered cashable savings, supporting the Council’s Value for Money programme.
