2023 Pricing Changes FAQ'S

Written by KCOM Business on 20/06/2023. Posted in General.

What is happening?

You may recently have received a letter or email explaining that KCOM is changing its prices.

While we know that a price rise is never welcome, we are doing our best to keep prices as low as possible despite the large increases we’re facing in delivering our service due to things such as increasing energy costs.

While other major providers such as BT are raising their prices by as much as 14%, KCOM has decided to limit its increases as much as possible. For our business customers, we have increased some of our prices which are detailed below.

What this means for you?

Your existing KCOM service will not change unless you want it to. Depending on the type of package you have with KCOM, your letter/email will describe what’s happening and your options.

Your letter/email may include any of the statements below, depending on your current package. This means you may need to review your options:

Call charges

Basic Tariff Pence per minute  Pence per minute from 1st June 2023
Local calls £0.26 £0.30
National Calls  £0.26 £0.30
Mobile Calls  £0.26  £0.30

The above table shows the new call bolt-on price from 1st June 2023. This price is excluding VAT.
If you have a call bolt-on, you have the option remove the call service you have on your existing package.
If you would like to know more about your call package options, please see the product page on our website, here.

ADSL

The price of our ADSL service has increased by 35%. The reasons for this are as follows:
  • The cost of running the inefficient ADSL network has increased substantially – hence the move to a more cost-effective fibre.
  • The rise in the cost of living means everything is more expensive - it is more expensive to run our network.
It can be more cost effective for customers to move to a fibre product. This is a win-win as it can be a cheaper, better, and more reliable service.
All customers will be migrated off our copper network as part of the Digital Switchover programme. Choosing to migrate sooner could mean you are on a more reliable technology, with fastest speeds earlier.

ISDN2 & 30 price increases

All our legacy and existing ISDN2 and ISDN 30 tariffs will be increasing by 11%.

We haven’t increased the price of our ISDN’s in recent years, and we still have customers on special offers from years ago which should have ended.

For our ISDN2 customers, we are offering our better value fibre-based telephony solutions and phasing out our copper technology as per the Digital Switchover programme. You can find out more about this by accessing our dedicated digital switchover website, here.

What are my options?

If you have a received a letter or an email confirming there will be a change to the price of your existing package, you will be able to review and confirm your available options which are included in your letter or email.

What is a call bolt-on?

A call bolt-on is a flexible option that we offer our customers to add inclusive call minutes to your phone or existing Lightstream package. Like a bundle.

A call bolt-on is often the best value option for your KCOM services. For example, to ensure that you don’t pay more than you need to for international and mobile phone calls.

How does this impact my bill?

All price rise changes are due to take affect from the 1st June 2023 and all prices are inclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.

How do I contact KCOM?

You are able to review and confirm your options in your email or letter, and if you have any further questions, please call us on 0800 915 5777, option 5.
