Our September 2026 grants were awarded to

  • Hornsea First Aid Centre

    Hornsea First Aid Centre

Hornsea First Aid Centre was set up in 2018, in response to the closing of the Minor Injuries Unit. Since 2018 they have operated from a Portacabin in Tesco car park with no mains electricity or running water, relying on Tesco's facilities. Despite these limitations, they continue to deliver a trusted, accessible community service that benefits local residents every day of the week. Their £755 grant will fund new uniforms and equipment to help them continue their invaluable service.

"Thank you so much to KCOM for their generous donation to Hornsea First Aid Centre. The money means a lot to us as we work from a portacabin in Tesco Car Park."

  • Oscar's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity

    Oscar's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity

OSCAR’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity provides practical, emotional and financial support to children and families facing a brain tumour diagnosis. Their £500 grant will fund 5 x Booster Boxes which are usually the first port of call for families so the charity can get to know them and follow-on with additional things based on their needs.

"We’re incredibly grateful to KCOM for their £500 Community Grant, which will help us make life that little bit easier for the families we support. The Booster Boxes will bring a little joy and comfort during treatment, to counselling for bereaved families and funding vital support, awareness and research projects. Every penny helps us be there when families need us most.

Having experienced OSCAR’s support as a family, I know how much it can mean to have someone there who understands and can help make an incredibly difficult journey that little bit easier. Now, as part of the OSCAR’s team, I get to see the impact of that support every day. We’re so grateful to KCOM for helping us continue to be there for more children and families when they need us most.”

Priory Tigers Girls is a brand new under 9's girls team, set up as part of Priory FC. The team has been inspired by the success of the Lionesses and promotes girls football, equal opportunities, physical, mental health and wellbeing whilst allowing them to make new friends along the way.

"Receiving the grant to purchase popup goals will be a massive benefit to the team, they will allow us to improve engagement in our sessions by offering fun competitive small sided games with appropriately sized goals. They will also be a benefit for training exercises where they can be used as targets. The exercises and small games will increase their touches of the football and vastly improve the girls accuracy and skills. In addition, the goals are portable, quick and easy to set up and will not deduct valuable time from the sessions."

This money will make a massive difference in allowing us to purchase vital training equipment, tackle pads and mats to ensure we are able to continue offering families within the local community a safe and fun environment for their children to play sport."

    What makes a successful grant?

Our community panel is looking for applications that will make a positive difference to members of the local community. As a guide, applications to fund things that have longevity, breakdown of costs and a far reaching impact are more likely to be successful than applications for one-off events or items that can only be used once. Applications for venue hire, rent, staff, travel costs or marketing materials will not be considered.
