It may be all hustle and bustle outside, but inside Whitehills Wellness Spa it’s an oasis of calm and relaxation.
Since opening earlier this year the Carr Lane spa has introduced a new level of relaxation and pampering to Hull city centre.
The spa, complete with a hot tub, steam room, sauna and relaxation rooms, offers everything from massages and specialist HydraFacials to blow dries, manicures, pedicures, makeovers and waxes. And once guests are fully relaxed and restored they can indulge in a Prosecco cream tea to round off their day.
Spa manager Suzie Sonnabend says the vision behind the new venue was to create a luxury spa experience unlike anything else available in the city.
She said: “There is nothing like this locally. We realised that if you wanted to go to for a full day experience you had to go out of town, so we thought why should Hull be any different? Why not bring that luxury experience to Hull?
“We wanted to create a place where you could come as a couple or with a group of friends and be treated like a celebrity for the day with a whole range of massages and treatments.”
After a £150,000 makeover of its own, Whitehills Wellness Spa now employs a team of eight including beauty therapists, a make-up artist and a hairdresser and caters for special events ranging from birthday treats to hen parties and pamper days.
But making sure everything glides like a swan on the surface needs a lot of hard work and organisation beneath the surface.
That’s why Whitehills has installed Lightstream broadband to make sure everything from its website to its secure booking system - and even the relaxing music in the five treatment rooms played through smart speakers – works seamlessly.
Suzie, says: “When we were in the process of opening we were looking at what support we could get locally and we discovered the Gigabit Voucher Scheme which paid for our Lightstream installation.
“It’s not often you get something for nothing – so we were waiting for the catch, but there wasn’t one.
“It’s been great. The application process for the voucher was really simple and straightforward and we had it installed really quickly. It helps us be efficient and organised, meaning we don’t have to worry about all the backroom admin stuff so we can focus on what’s really important – giving our guests the best possible experience.”
