We spoke with Georgia Allenby of Allenby Commercial to find out more about the space.

How have things gone since opening last year?

We fully launched in August 2017 at the peak of summer and Hull’s City of Culture year. The response to our opening was great, with a warm welcome from locals and visitors alike. It seemed a quality and boutique accommodation offering had been long-awaited in Hull.

Our weekends were jam-packed throughout the summer, with visitors from all over the country flocking here for events or just a nosey around our cultural city.

What do you think sets Hideout Hotel apart from others?

We carefully designed Hideout with travelling business people in mind, so we are trying to build up our corporate clients this year. The apartments are really well-equipped and specially located for this type of visitor.

Staying in an independent family-run hotel is a whole different experience to a chain hotel. We truly care about our guests and their stay at Hideout, as well as their time in Hull.

Our high level of customer service begins as soon as you book with us. We send all of our guests on a drone tour of places surrounding Hideout that we recommend you visit during your stay. We call these Hideout Hangouts – we’re from Hull ourselves, so we know it pretty well.

On top of this, there are personal touches throughout the rooms that piece together the story of Hull. We are passionate about our city and love to support other local businesses where possible. This is why we have locally sourced as much as we possibly could.

A lot of our wooden furniture is supplied by Bloc CNC, less than five miles from Hideout. Meanwhile, the sofas, bay window seats and headboards are custom designed by The Chaise Longue Co., less than two miles away from us. Even our paper and card is supplied by local paper merchant G.F. Smith.

We also support local artists by displaying their artwork and photography throughout the hotel. 100% of the profit goes back to the artist or their chosen charity if the piece is purchased by a guest.

Now that the City of Culture is over, do you think people will continue to visit Hull?

Absolutely! We’re still being talked about all over the place. In January, Hull’s Old Town was nominated as one of the UK's hippest destinations by TravelSupermarket alongside Ancoats in Manchester and Partick in Glasgow.

Many of our guests who stayed in 2017 have already rebooked for a return trip this year. The City of Culture name has certainly put Hull on the map. We’re confident that with continued investment and further creative events, we will keep the momentum and entice more visitors.

Lastly, why should people stay at Hideout Hotel?

Hideout is unlike any other hotel in the city... and possibly the world, now that I come to think about it. We’re eco-friendly, as our thermodynamic panels on the roof supply both the hot water and underfloor heating. We’ve got all the mod-cons, such as keyless entry, demisting bathroom mirrors, electronic roof windows and blinds that are powered by solar energy.

I would also say that we’re a bit different. In each apartment, you’ll find an easel with watercolours for you to get creative. In some of the two-bed apartments, there is a vintage school desk with colouring books and pens for the kids.

Overall, we’re affordable. We keep our prices very competitive with the other hotels in Hull and we’re well-situated, located next to Hull Minster and surrounded by free museums, galleries, pubs and restaurants. We always encourage our visitors to explore the surrounding area.

Visit the Hideout Hotel website for more info, including their current leisure packages for Mother’s Day and Humber Street Sesh.
