2

KCOM joined other local businesses at Wilberforce Sixth Form College recently to help students hone their interview skills before they enter the world of work.

The fast-paced ‘Speed Interviewing’ session was part of the college’s Progression and Employment Seminar, designed to encourage students to think about their future after completing their studies.

The speed interviewers represented a variety of local employers and organisations including, KCOM, 360 Chartered Accountants, City Health Care Partnership, Cranswick Country Foods, The Spa Bridlington, the RAF, Cargill PLC, RGG Associates, MY Marketing, Rooted in Hull, For Entrepreneurs Only and Artlink.

Ben Wallis, Assistant Principal, at Wilberforce Sixth Form College said:

“Our Employment Seminar was extremely successful and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of the employers who took part.

"At Wilberforce College we’re keen to establish links with local businesses to help our students understand what employers are looking for and ensure they have all of the skills they need for the world of work.

"The students gained an invaluable opportunity from these mock interviews and are now much more prepared for when they start to pursue their future careers.”

Brendon Smurthwaite, Community Coordinator at KCOM, added:

“As a major local employer we understand the importance of helping students prepare for life after education.

“Events like this give them a real insight into what to expect from an interview situation and it was a pleasure for us to offer our support and meet some of the future generation.”
