The best digital music releases this month

2

We’re taking a look at some of the best new music dropping this month, which should help to make your cold commutes that little bit more bearable.

Heathers The Musical

Previously only available to users of Amazon Music, all 20 songs from the Heathers The Musical soundtrack have just been added onto both Apple Music and Spotify – a real treat for theatre fans.

Based on the 1989 classic film, this recording features the original Broadway cast from the show and is full of ‘80s nostalgia and pounding guitar riffs, with a heartfelt solo or two thrown in for good measure. How very!

Twenty One Pilots

Following on from their hit album Blurryface, released back in 2015, Twenty One Pilots are back this month with their fifth studio album.

The band has already released four songs from the track list, along with videos and the announcement of a world tour running from this month right up until March 2019.

After Blurryface became the first album in history to have every track receive at least a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America, we’ve got high hopes for this album, which will be available on 5th October.

John Grant

After coming to Hull in 2017 to take part in the City of Culture celebrations, John Grant is returning to the city early next year with a brand-new album in tow.

Love is Magic is Grant’s fourth studio album to date and is due to be released on 12th October. Dipping his toe into a variety of musical genres, Grant’s songs range from slow and melancholy to upbeat and empowering, so his discography really offers something for everyone.

Robyn

Swedish treasure Robyn’s 2010 hit Dancing On My Own had new life breathed into it a couple of years back when Hull’s very own Calum Scott recorded a much sadder cover, but now the woman herself is bursting back onto the music scene with a new album.

Honey was announced back in February of this year, with the first single coming shortly after, premiering in an episode of Girls on HBO. Missing U has the same techno vibes as Robyn’s previous albums, so it’s looking likely that the album as a whole will be full of hits that you won’t be able to resist dancing to, whether at a club or in your kitchen whilst the tea’s on. Honey is set to be released on 26th October.

You Me At Six

A real throwback for everyone who spent their teenage years wearing skinny jeans and studded belts, emo legends You Me At Six have recorded a new album, VI, set to be released on 5th October.

Best known for hits such as Save It for the Bedroom and Underdog, the band has classed this album as part of a new era for their music, and it's also the first album they’ve ever co-produced themselves.
