What to watch on Netflix - 09.10.2018

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina    

Fans of Riverdale (or old school fans of Sabrina the Teenage Witch) will have been eagerly awaiting this series for a while. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, based on the comic book of the same name, will arrive at the end of this month, and it looks like a good one.

Focusing on Archie Comics character Sabrina Spellman, the series follows her journey to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her life, her family and the daylight world that humans inhabit.

Daredevil

Matt Murdock is back this month for his third season, with thirteen brand new episodes to satisfy all your superhero needs. The new season is set to follow Murdock as he deals with big bad Wilson Fisk’s release from prison, which is pushing him to make a choice – should he continue to hide Daredevil from the world, or embrace his life as a hero vigilante?

We’re also being introduced to a new villain in the form of Bullseye, played by Wilson Bethel, alongside previous season regulars such as Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson.

Truth or Dare

There’s no better way to spend October than watching as many bad horror films as you can cram into your spare time, and Netflix has plenty of them for you to choose from.

One of its newest offerings is 2018’s Truth or Dare. Starring Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey, Violett Beane, Hayden Szeto and Landon Liboiron, the film follows a group of college students who play a seemingly innocent game of truth or dare while on vacation in Mexico, only to realise it has deadly consequences if they don't follow through on their tasks.

Big Mouth

The plot may sound a bit too much for some people, but Netflix’s original animated series Big Mouth is so popular it’s managed to bag itself a second season.

The series follows a group of seventh graders as they navigate their way through puberty and into adulthood. Acting as sex-based shoulder angels are their hilarious hormone monsters, Maurice and Connie.

Fans of American comedians and sketch shows like SNL should definitely give this one a go, as the voice cast consists of icons such as John Mulaney, Maya Rudolph, Jenny Slate and Fred Armisen.

Making a Murderer

Another Netflix Original that gained mainstream popularity when it was released, Making a Murderer is back with ten new episodes exploring the aftermath of the crime it covered.

The ten-episode first season explored the true story of Steven Avery, a man who served 18 years in prison for the wrongful conviction of sexual assault and attempted murder of Penny Beerntsen, before being fully exonerated in 2003 by DNA evidence. The series also covers the arrest, prosecution and conviction of Avery's nephew, Brendan Dassey, who was also charged in the murder, largely based on his confession under interrogation.

These new episodes focus more on Dassey, looking into what happened after his conviction.
