How do I setup my email on Outlook 2016 or Outlook 365?

Setting up email on Outlook 2016 or Outlook 365 is easy and lets you send and receive your emails on your Windows PC or tablet without having to log into our webmail service.

If the instructions below aren't working and you can't setup your email account, try following the alternative instructions further down.

How do I setup my KCOM email account on Outlook?

  1. From your desktop or start menu, open Outlook 2016. Click File at the top left of the window and then click Add Account.

  2. Type your KCOM email address (e.g. kcomuser@kcomuser.karoo.co.uk) into the box. Now click Advanced options and tick Let me set up my account manually before clicking Connect.

  3. Select POP or IMAP. We recommend using POP.

  4. You now need to input some details about your account so Outlook can find it.

    Incoming mail
     
    • Server - 'pop.karoo.co.uk' if you chose POP, 'imap.karoo.co.uk' if you chose IMAP
       
    • Port - 110
       
    • Encryption method - This should be set to 'None'
       
    • Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) - This should be unticked
       
    Outgoing mail
     
    • Server - 'smtp.karoo.co.uk'
       
    • Port - 25
       
    • Encryption method - This should be set to 'None'
       
    • Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) - This should be unticked
       
    Once you've finished, click Next.

  5. You now need to type in your email password before clicking Connect.

  6. Providing all of your settings and information was entered correctly, you should now see a message saying that the account setup is complete. Click OK to finish.

    Your emails will now appear in your inbox.

Alternative Setup

If you're having issues using the regular instructions above to setup your email on Outlook 2016 or Outlook 365, please try the instructions below.

  1. First, open your Start Menu or Search on the taskbar and then type Control Panel. Select Control Panel from the results.

  2. In Control Panel, type Mail in the search box in the top right and then click on Microsoft Outlook 2016 or Mail (Microsoft Outlook) (32-bit) or similar.

  3. Now click Email Accounts under Setup Email Accounts and Directories.

  4. Click New, then Manual Setup, then Next.

  5. Then click Manual Setup, then Next.

  6. Select POP or IMAP and then click Next.

  7. Now you need to fill in some settings so that Outlook can connect to your email account. It may ask you for the following:
     
    • Name - type in your full name
       
    • Email address - type in your KCOM email address
       
    • Account type - select POP3 or IMAP (we recommend POP3)
       
    • Incoming mail server - type either pop.karoo.co.uk or imap.karoo.co.uk depending on what you chose above
       
    • Outgoing mail server - type smtp.karoo.co.uk
       
    • Username - type in your KCOM email address
       
    • Password - type in your KCOM email password
       
    • Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) - this should be unticked

  8. Providing the settings were filled in correctly, your account should now be setup. If you're still having trouble, please contact us for further guidance.
