KCOM helps rural community kickstart Christmas

The countdown to Christmas kicked off in style in one East Riding village this week thanks to a little help from KCOM.

KCOM sponsored the big Christmas lights switch on in the picturesque Hutton Cranswick with our own Community Engagement Manager Linzi Corrigan attending to take part in the festivities.

We’ve recently completed our network build to upgrade residents in this rural village to ultrafast, full fibre broadband, so it was a great opportunity to chat to customers and support this popular annual event.

Linzi said: “We felt a real sense of community as we spoke to the volunteers who give their time to plan the event each year and to see so many local families braving the cold and rain to come along.

“It is a privilege to be invited along to community events such as these and we certainly felt part of something special. Here’s to a great festive period, building more relationships and making genuine connections in the communities we serve.”

But we’re not done with helping our rural customers celebrate Christmas just yet!

Our Christmas elves will be supporting the Brandesburton lights switch on on Thursday, 7 December, where attendees will be in with a chance of winning a VR headset, an Xbox One and an Amazon Echo Dot. Hull City mascot Roary the Tiger will also be on hand at the Village Hall between 4.30pm and 6.30pm to say hello!

We’re also sponsoring the Cherry Burton festive ‘pond light event’ on Saturday, 9 December, where we’ll be helping Santa’s sleight to deliver some seasonal gifts to youngsters attending, between 4.15pm and 6pm.
