Music stars come out to shine at Hedfest with KCOM
Hedon is set to welcome rockers from three classic Britpop bands as part of its annual summer festival.
Music stars from The Inspiral Carpets, the Bluetones and Dodgy will all grace the acoustic stage at Hedfest next weekend, treating festival goers to a treasure trove of classic chart hits.
The festival, which is sponsored by KCOM, will take place on Saturday, 20 July, at sites around Hedon town centre featuring live music, comedy and local artisan food and drink stalls.
Among the headliners appearing on the main acoustic stage at St Augustine’s Church will be Inspiral Carpets singer Tom Hingley, famous for songs such as This Is How It Feel and Saturn 5, Mark Morriss of The Bluetones, which scored 13 Top 40 hits in the 90s with songs such as Slight Return and Bluetonic, and Nigel Clark of Dodgy, famous for feelgood anthems including Staying Out For The Summer and Good Enough.
The free festival is expected to attract thousands of party-goers from around the region and will also feature a Jongleurs comedy stage, which will be located in Hedon Town Hall.
A spokesperson for the event said: “Hedfest is shaping up to be an epic day, and thanks to KCOM, we've got a phenomenal lineup of acts ready to take the stage at our free community extravaganza.
“We are ready to host some electrifying music and captivating spoken word performances guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face. A huge thank you to KCOM for helping make this year's Hedfest truly outstanding!”
KCOM managing director Neil Bartholomew said he was delighted to be supporting a festival that will bring the whole community together.
He said: “The organisers have pulled together a phenomenal line-up with some brilliant acts and I’m sure it’s going to be a great day for Hedon and East Yorkshire as whole. As a company that’s celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, we know how important it is to be a part of the local community and to support great cultural events like this that bring everyone together. We love being an integral part of communities like Hedon and I hope everyone has a fantastic time.”
