Waiting credit explained

Lightstream not available in your area yet? You might be eligible for waiting credit.

When you sign up to a broadband deal you agree to a minimum contract period which is typically 12, 18 or 24 months. When this contract period ends your broadband service will continue as normal, however you may end up paying a slightly increased price per month with your current provider.

If you live in KCOM’s new fibre build area, KCOM will cover the difference between your in and out of contract price with your current provider (up to £100*) whilst you wait for KCOM to build service, if your contract with an existing provider ends between pre-registration and availability of Lightstream services. You must register your interest in order to be eligible for waiting credit.

Set out below are two examples of customers who would be eligible for waiting credit:

Example 1

You currently pay £31.99 per month for your broadband on a 24-month contract. When your contract period ends you pay an out of contract price of £39.99 per month from month 25 onwards (an £8 increase per month). You live in KCOM’s new fibre build area and have been notified that service will be available in 3 months’ time, and decide to pre-register your interest.

You pay the out of contract price of £39.99 per month for 3 months and then become a KCOM customer. Once your KCOM service has been activated, KCOM credit your first month’s bill with £24 (the £8 difference between your in and out of contract price, multiplied by the 3 months that you waited for KCOM to build service in your area). Before KCOM credits your bill, you must provide your end of contract notification from your previous provider.

Example 2

You currently pay £23.00 per month for your broadband on a 24-month contract. When your contract period ends you pay an out of contract price of £34.95 per month from month 25 onwards (an £11.95 increase per month). You live in KCOM’s new fibre build area and have been notified that service will be available in 6 months’ time, and decide to pre-register your interest.

You pay the out of contract price of £34.95 per month for 6 months and then become a KCOM customer. Once your KCOM service has been activated, KCOM credit your first month’s bill with £71.70 (the £11.95 difference between your in and out of contract price, multiplied by the 6 months that you waited for KCOM to build service in your area). Before KCOM credits your bill, you must provide your end of contract notification from your previous provider.
