Keep your existing mobile number when switching to KCOM

Switching to KCOM doesn't mean you need to change your mobile number.

If you're joining KCOM with an eSIM and want to keep the mobile number you already have with another provider, you'll need a Porting Authorisation Code (PAC) from your current provider.

Here's everything you need to know about bringing your existing number to KCOM.

How do I keep my existing number?

It's easy to bring your existing mobile number to KCOM.

1. Get a PAC from your current provider

Ask your current mobile provider for a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code).

You can usually get your PAC by:

  • Texting PAC to 65075 from the mobile number you want to keep
  • Logging into your current provider's online account
  • Contacting your current provider directly

Your provider should give you your PAC shortly after you request it.

Your PAC is normally valid for 30 days, so make sure you give it to KCOM within this time.

2. Get your KCOM eSIM

Download the KCOM eSIM app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Follow the steps to purchase and activate your KCOM eSIM. During the process, you'll be asked whether you want to transfer your existing mobile number.

You can enter your PAC at this stage or provide it at a later date.

3. We'll transfer your number

Once we've received your PAC, we'll arrange for your existing mobile number to be transferred to KCOM.

If you submit your transfer request before 5pm Monday to Thursday, your number will normally be transferred on the next working day. You can also choose a later transfer date, provided it meets the working day criteria.

We don't transfer numbers at weekends or on bank holidays. If you request a transfer on a weekend or bank holiday, your number will normally be transferred within 2 working days.

Your number transfer will take place between 5am and midnight on the transfer day. During the transfer, you'll lose signal on your old SIM.

Until the transfer takes place, you can continue using your existing SIM or eSIM with your current provider.

Once the transfer is complete, your existing number will be active on your KCOM eSIM.

Can I use my KCOM eSIM before my number transfers?

Yes. You can start using your KCOM eSIM before your existing mobile number transfers.

Until your number is transferred, your existing mobile number will continue to work on your current SIM or eSIM. Your KCOM eSIM can be used with the KCOM number provided when you set up your service.

Once your number transfer is complete, your existing mobile number will become active on your KCOM eSIM. Your old SIM or eSIM will then stop working for that number.

This means you don't need to wait for your number to transfer before setting up and using your KCOM eSIM.

Will I lose service when my number is transferred?

You may experience a short period without service while your number moves between providers.

We'll let you know when your number transfer has been completed.

What if I've already activated my KCOM eSIM?

That's fine. You can still transfer your existing number to KCOM through the KCOM eSIM app.

What if my PAC has expired?

PACs are normally valid for 30 days from the date they're issued.

If your PAC has expired, you'll need to request a new PAC from your previous provider.
