“The staff have been really impressed by it and often wonder how they managed before we had it installed – it really is a fantastic piece of technology.” Sue Walker, Marfleet Primary School Business Manager
1. Please introduce yourself and your role within the school?
Hi. I’m Sue Walker, and I’m the Business Manager at Marfleet Primary School.
2. Tell us about your school
Marfleet Primary School was built in 1892. It is situated in an industrial area to the east of Hull. It is a small, family orientated school which works well with the local community.
3. Why did the school require a KCOM SmartComms UC service?
The system which was used before I joined was in need of an update. I had SmartComms UC installed in my previous school and it I found it worked very well.
4. Has SmartComms UC changed communication in the school?
We’ve managed to programme parents’ numbers into the phone meaning with a touch of a button we can be in touch with a child’s parent straight away. There’s also a caller display function, which is great as we can personalise our greetings to whoever is calling in. We can also make our connection show when we are in meetings with a ‘Do not disturb’ button, which helps internally to show when people are free to speak.
5. How easy is SmartComms UC to use as a public organisation?
The system has been received extremely well and we have not had any problems with it. The phone itself comes with a simple keypad and it’s no over complicated to use in the slightest; if I can use it, anybody can use it!
6. How has SmartComms UC been received by staff who use the system?
As the system is so easy to use, the staff have been really impressed by it and often wonder how they managed before we had it installed – it really is a fantastic piece of technology. We’ve also planned on recording our pupils singing to use for the ‘on hold’ music which will be really great to listen to once it’s complete.
