Top tips for growing your YouTube audience

Make sure your videos get watched and shared

Whether you’re a budding makeup guru, a master at video game walkthroughs or a fan of sharing product reviews, having a YouTube channel to post your personal tips and opinions can seem quite daunting at first. If you’re not as savvy with the site as you’d like to be and need help reaching a wider audience, here are some of our top tips to ensure that your videos get watched and shared.

Brand your channel

The best way to start out is to make sure your channel is visually appealing and lets your audience know exactly what your content is about. Branding your YouTube channel can help you establish your identity amongst users who produce similar content, and also gives your followers and watchers a way to instantly recognise your content through a unique logo or banner.

As well as applying visual branding to your page, don’t forget to add a custom URL to your channel too, as it will make it easier to remember and find. You should also write up an interesting bio about who you are and what your videos are about, as it shows people what to expect from your content and whether or not it’s for them.

Link up with your social media

When creating and posting videos, you should include links to any other active social media profiles you have, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This works both ways, as you can add the video links to your other channels to expand your overall reach.

Dedicated followers can then share your posts, meaning your content will be spread to a wider audience and hopefully gain you some new fans. Tagging your posts is also helpful, as it allows people who are interested in relevant topics to find your videos through the search bar.

Engage with your audience

Your content isn’t the only important thing about your channel; it also matters how you come across as a person, too. One of the best ways to keep up your following is by regularly interacting with your audience. Responding to the comments and messages that they send you and letting them know that you’re interested in what they have to say is key, as it shows that your heart is in the right place when it comes to creating and sharing content.

Keeping up the friendly communication with your audience also makes it more likely that they’ll recommend your channel to friends with similar interests, as they know your videos are created by someone who they want to support.
