What to watch on UKTV Play this March

We’ve whipped up our top picks on UKTV Play for this month, ranging from good old classics to the latest entertainment.

The Great British Bake Off

Possibly one of the best creations to ever come from the BBC, The Great British Bake Off is a competition show in which a group of amateur bakers compete against each other in a series of intense rounds, each hoping to impress a group of judges.

One unlucky contestant is eliminated in every episode, and the winner is selected from the three contestants who reach the finals. Every series has its fair share of lovable contestants and cake-related drama, and it’s a great show to accompany a Sunday binge on the sofa (perhaps with a homemade scone or two).

Ted Bundy: Serial Monster

The true crime craze is showing no signs of slowing down, and one particular subject that’s been getting a lot of documentary attention recently is Ted Bundy.

Bundy was a handsome gentleman on the outside and a depraved monster on the inside, using his looks and charming personality to lure in his victims. Ted Bundy: Serial Monster profiles the notorious killer and includes an examination of the ways he outwitted investigators, escaped from prison and outsmarted the press and judicial system on several occasions.

Flack

A new addition to UKTV Play’s roster, Flack is a comedy-slash-drama series that premiered last month. The show follows main character Robyn, played by True Blood’s Anna Paquin, an American PR executive living in London and specialising in clearing up the monumental messes caused by her hapless and selfish clients.

Although she seems to be utterly in command of her job, her personal life is starting to spiral out of control, which makes for excellent viewing.

Pie in the Sky

UKTV Play is the place to be when it comes to nostalgic television. Pie in the Sky was a light-hearted British police drama that ran from 1994 to 1997, and follows protagonist Henry Crabbe as he juggles the challenges that come with being both an on-duty semi-retired policeman and the head chef of the busy restaurant the bears the same name as the show.

The Joy of Techs

Comedian, writer and technophobe Marcus Brigstocke and gadget-obsessed actor and broadcaster Alexis Conran team up in The Joy of Techs to put the world's latest and greatest technology to the test.

Working from their two very different points of view, they tackle everyday scenarios, hobbies and games, each trying to outdo their opponent. Alexis argues for the new tech, whereas Marcus usually stays firmly in the corner of tried and tested methods, with the intent to make Alexis realise that it's all just a great big waste of time.

Breaking In

Breaking In focuses on the eclectic staff of the fictional company Contra Security, run by an enigmatic character called Oz, as they test security systems by checking how easy they are to hack. The story is mostly told from the point of view of Cameron Price, the company's newest member and a world-class hacker, as he adjusts to working life with his eccentric co-workers.
