Hull is the best place to be when it comes to fantastic entertainment, exhibitions and events. We've rustled up our top five things to do in the city this month.

How to Hide a Lion
Pigtails Productions, Polka Theatre and Oxford Playhouse present How to Hide a Lion by Helen Stephens, directed and adapted by Peter Glanville and with music and songs by Barb Jungr.
When a lion is chased out of town, a little girl, Iris, helps him to find somewhere to hide. Together they embark on a mission to squash the lion into a variety of sneaky tight spots, as the misinformed town folk try to track him down.
Helen Stephens’ magical book of the same name comes to life with playful humour, dazzling puppets and jazz.
Catch How to Hide a Lion at Hull Truck Theatre on the 30th and 31st of October.
Jamie Reid XXXXX: Fifty Years of Subversion and The Spirit
Through his art, music, performance and politics, British artist and anarchist Jamie Reid has become somewhat of a punk icon, rebelling against society’s social and cultural injustices.
Humber Street Gallery is delighted to present Reid’s newest exhibition, Jamie Reid XXXXX: Fifty Years of Subversion and The Spirit, which will showcase a variety of material spanning from the 1970s to the present.
Collage work, drawings, paintings, prints, poster editions and photographs will demonstrate Reid’s witty delivery and continued dedication in making a statement through art.
The exhibition will be shown in Humber Street Gallery from 12th October to 6th January, so there’s plenty of time to catch it.
Benidorm Live!
Starring many of the actors from the show that we all know and love, the official world premiere of Derren Litten's smash-hit ITV comedy Benidorm is set to bring sunshine and smiles to the UK and Ireland in this stage debut production of the hugely popular TV show.
The award-winning comedy celebrates over a decade of all-inclusive hilarity, having followed the ensemble cast of holiday makers and staff for ten series since it first broadcast in 2007. Litten has now written an all new set of Alicante escapades for the much-loved cast members as they swap sangria for the stage after a quick spruce up at the Blow ‘n’ Go!
Don’t miss out on a dose of Benidorm sunshine and see your favourite stars from the Solana live on stage for the very first time. Benidorm runs from 8th to 13th October at Hull New Theatre.
Jack White
When the White Stripes started in 1997, no one, least of all Jack White, ever expected that a red, white and black two-piece band would take hold in the mainstream world.
The band's self-titled debut and sophomore effort De Stijl amassed critical acclaim and built a passionate underground following, but it was the release of 2001’s White Blood Cells that thrust the White Stripes onto magazine covers as they captivated larger audiences through worldwide touring.
The release of Elephant in 2003 not only cemented the band’s reputation, but also offered the #1 hit single Seven Nation Army, arguably the most popular chant in sports stadiums around the world.
