Recognising the company's ultrafast Lightstream broadband

KCOM has been nominated for three national awards for its ultrafast Lightstream broadband.

The Hull-based IT and broadband provider scooped three nominations for this year’s Internet Services Providers’ Association (ISPA) Awards, in the Best Consumer ISP, Best PR Campaign and Best Customer Solution categories.

Sean Royce, KCOM’s managing director, said: “The prestigious ISPA awards celebrate the best that our industry has to offer so it’s wonderful to receive national recognition for our Lightstream rollout.

“These nominations are recognition of the work we’ve being doing to not just deliver great fibre broadband services to people and businesses across the region, but also help them make the most of their ultrafast connection. Fingers crossed we’ll be bringing the trophies home to Hull in July.”

KCOM’s rollout of full fibre Lightstream earned a nomination in the Best Consumer ISP category for bringing affordable ultrafast broadband to its entire Hull and East Yorkshire network.

The company’s ground-breaking use of Facebook Live to talk directly to customers last November and the launch of its Wi-Fi expert PRO Team – which featured a tongue-in-cheek Reservoir Dogs-style video – caught the judges’ eye to secure a nomination in the Best PR Campaign category.

And finally, KCOM’s work to bring 21st century connectivity to Elizabethan stately home Burton Constable Hall resulted in being shortlisted in the Best Customer Solution category.

The ISPA award winners will be unveiled at a ceremony in London on 11 July.

ISPA’s Secretary General, Nick Lansman, commented: “This year’s shortlisted ISPA Awards finalists demonstrate the high calibre and diversity of ISPs across the UK, who continue to drive growth and innovation across the internet industry.

“We are all looking forward towards an exciting evening which celebrates the best that the UK industry has to offer.”

The nominations are the latest recognition for KCOM’s full fibre network.

The company scooped the award for best urban impact at the inaugural Altnet (Alternative Network) awards in London last November. It has also been shortlisted in the fibre connectivity category for the forthcoming Connected Britain 2019 Awards.

KCOM’s work to inspire young people across Hull and East Yorkshire has also been recognised with a nomination in the Commitment to the Local Community category in the fifth annual Better Society Awards.
