KCOM launches PRO-Team to solve in-home broadband problems

2

KCOM has launched a new team to help people get the best out of their home broadband.

The KCOM PRO Team is hitting the streets of Hull and East Yorkshire from this week to help solve customers’ Wi-Fi woes, resolve router problems and banish buffering.

The service, which is the first of its kind in the UK, will be available for free to KCOM customers who feel they are not getting the most out of their Lightstream broadband’s ultrafast speeds.

Sean Royce, KCOM managing director, said: “Our full fibre broadband guarantees some of the fastest speeds in the UK right to our customers’ front doors – but sometimes people can’t make the most of these because of in-home issues that happen after that.

“A lot of external factors can affect your broadband experience – including interference from other appliances, the positioning of your router, the age of the devices you’re using and even the construction of your house itself.

“This is something broadband customers across the UK experience and we’re the first ISP in the UK to do something about it.

“To help our customers experience the very best Lightstream has to offer, our PRO Team will visit people’s homes free of charge to offer advice and provide technical assistance on how to make their broadband achieve its full potential.”

To mark the launch, members of the newly formed team have appeared in their own tongue-in-cheek homage to arguably one of the most famous opening scenes in movie history – the start of Quentin Tarantino’s cult classic Reservoir Dogs.

The PRO Team initiative is the next step in helping Hull and East Yorkshire benefit from KCOM’s £85m rollout of its cutting-edge Fibre To The Premises (FTTP) network.

The rollout is now in its final stage and will reach every property in the region – that’s 200,000 homes – by March 2019. This is compared to just five per cent of properties nationally with access to full fibre broadband.

Sean said: “The launch of our PRO Team is part of our mission to listen and respond to our customers’ concerns by giving them the high quality broadband service they want.

“Hull now has one of the best full fibre networks in Europe, if not the world, and we want our customers to experience the full benefits of that.”
