How do I set up my KCOM Smart Wi-Fi access points?
Setting up your access points is quick and easy. Watch our handy video below and follow along to get your Smart Wi-Fi kit up and running in no time.
Top tips for placing your access point
Choose a central location
Make sure you place the access point not too far away from your router to give you the best range possible.
Don’t hide your access point away
Your access point will give you the best wireless signal when it’s out in the open, away from any walls or obstructions (e.g. large TVs and large metal objects).
Place your access point as high as you can
The wireless signal coming from your access point will be able to travel further if it’s placed on a table or a shelf.
Avoid interference
Try to keep your access point away from cordless phones, baby monitors and microwaves – the further away the better. These devices use signals that can interfere with your router and access point.
Check the LINK LED on the front of the access point
Once you've followed the steps above, the LINK LED light on the front will indicate whether the access point is in a good position, or if it’s too far away from the router.
The best place for the access point is different for every home, so make sure to play around and try some different places to see what works best for you. And if you ever need a hand, a member of our team will be happy to help you out.
