Community centre planning festive party

KCOM has been out and about contributing to the local community again - this time by donating a Christmas tree to St Stephen's Neighbourhood Centre, in Greatfield, east Hull.

The striking white tree, decked with orange baubles, will be part of a "forest of trees" donated by local groups and companies for the centre's first ever Christmas Tree Fair which is taking place on Saturday, 8 December.

Staff from KCOM helped local youngsters decorate the tree this week in preparation for the festive party.

Centre organiser Karen Okra said: "Our Christmas Tree festival is a brilliant way of bringing the community together.

“We're delighted so many groups and companies have contributed trees - the end result looks brilliant, very colourful and very Christmassy. We've got a full forest of trees for people to come and wander around. Thank you to everyone who’s taking part."

If you're in that neck of the woods this weekend the event will take place between 11am and 3pm at the Annandale Road centre and will feature food, craft stalls, face painting, hook a duck, reptile displays and a Santa's grotto to visit.

There's more information on the centre's Facebook page.

This isn't the first time KCOM has worked with the busy community centre.

Earlier this year, KCOM provided an IT suite, complete with six high spec PCs and an ultrafast Lightstream connection, to help local people get online.

The IT suite has since proved popular with local youngsters using it to game online and even do their homework.
