Children from Priory Primary were given an insight into the world of work recently as the school held a Careers Day supported by a number of local businesses, including KCOM.

The day was designed to get the children thinking about what type of career might interest them and two of KCOM’s engineering operations team went along to talk about their roles and day to day tasks.

Louise Adams of Priory Primary said: “We run a Careers Day for our Year 5 and 6 children every year. The inspiration the speakers give the children at the event is amazing. The children learn about careers they would never even have known existed or they thought they could never aspire to have. It gives them the ambition they need by knowing these careers are within their reach.”

Jess Paddison, Technical Specialist Engineer at KCOM, commented: “It was great to meet the children and find out what they’re thinking about in terms of a career.

“Just having the opportunity to speak to people from a different range of industries can only be a positive experience for the children. They asked lots of questions about my job and quite a few seemed really interested in engineering.

“I really enjoyed the day and hopefully some of the children we met will go on to become part of the next generation of engineers.”
