It’s official. Hull and East Yorkshire have the best broadband service in the UK.

KCOM overcame stiff opposition to be named the country’s best Consumer Internet Service Provider at the 2019 Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) Awards in London last night.

The award recognised KCOM’s role delivering ultrafast Lightstream broadband through its full fibre network across Hull and East Yorkshire.

Sean Royce, KCOM’s managing director, said: “I’m delighted to be bringing home this award from what are the Oscars of the internet industry. It’s a huge achievement and great to get national recognition for what we’re doing in Hull. We’ve made huge strides in the past year, listening to our customers to give them the best broadband service we can at affordable prices - and this award shows we’re doing the right things.

“We’ve been working really hard to give our customers across Hull and East Yorkshire a broadband service which we believe is truly the best in the UK - and now it’s official.”

The company was also shortlisted in the ISPA’s Best Customer Solution category for its work to bring Elizabethan Burton Constable Hall into the 21st century by installing cutting edge Lightstream technology.

The ISPA award is the latest recognition for the Hull-based IT and communications provider, which recently scooped the award for Best Urban Impact at the inaugural Altnet (Alternative Network) awards and the Fibre Connectivity Award at the Connected Britain Awards.
