Five local websites that we love

Whilst many of us immediately think of internet giants Facebook, Amazon and YouTube when we consider our favourite websites, there are several really cool and useful ones that are made and run right here in little old Hull.
Find out about local events, news and people by paying these Humber-based sites a visit.

Hull2017
Last year, Hull had an incredible twelve months in the spotlight that saw thousands of people attend thousands of wonderful, inspiring events. The Hull2017 website is still up and serves as a digital catalogue for events taking place in Hull and the surrounding areas.

From theatre to art installations, festivals and film screenings, there’s always something to do. One of our favourite features of the site is the filter function, which allows you to refine your interests and the dates you’re available.

Hull and East Riding Mumbler
This website is a great place to head to if you have a young family. Originally set up by mum-of-two Rachael Smith, the Hull and East Riding Mumbler community offers resources, promotes local events and signposts parents to useful services in the area.

Unbelievably, what started out as a small project has been so successful that it is now being franchised across the country.

Hull University Union
A great resource for students, Hull University Union's website is jam-packed full of info, events, workshops and advice, many of which are accessible and relevant to the general public, too.

It’s the prime spot to find out more information about student services, or to contact an HUU Officer if you have an idea for improving the relationship between Hull’s residents and the student population.

Bondholders - Marketing the Humber
Who doesn’t want to promote and showcase our region? The Bondholders website is a fantastic source of information for businesses to properly market and highlight the brilliant opportunities, fascinating stories and magnificent capabilities of the area.

You can also find job vacancies from entry level to senior management and catch up with what’s going on in the area in terms of business and investment.

HullBID
Not-for-profit organisation HullBID has put together a spectacular website that supports businesses across its focus area. The aim is to empower the city centre to sustainably grow and progress through initiatives and exciting events.

You may have tucked into some tasty grub or bought some local produce at one of their many events, such as Hull Street Food Nights, Hull Farmers’ Market and Yum Food Festival.

Visit their website to keep up to date with these events, plus find a directory of the awesome makers, artisans and entrepreneurs in the city.
