What to watch on Netflix

We’ve rounded up our top Netflix picks, perfect for when you want to relax in front of the telly with friends and family.

With the online streaming platform frequently adding new and exciting TV shows, films and documentaries, there’s almost too much to choose from. Here are some of our favourites to make deciding a whole lot easier.

Friends

Possibly the most binge-watched shows of its time, Friends is finally on Netflix. Yes, you heard right, every single episode, from "The One Where Monica Gets a Roommate" to “The Last One”, can now be enjoyed on demand.

Stranger Things

If you haven’t heard of this throwback science fiction drama, you must have been hiding in The Upside Down. The first season aired in 2016 and follows a group of young schoolkids as they come to terms with the disappearance of their close friend.

But it’s safe to say that all is not quite as it seems, and things are far stranger than they could ever have imagined.

The much-anticipated second season aired late last year and really is quite brilliant.

Peaky Blinders

The UK has been truly captivated by this graphic period piece. Set just after the First World War, Peaky Blinders is based on the exploits of the infamous Birmingham gang.

Expect to see some surprisingly famous Hollywood faces make an appearance, including Tom Hardy and Adrien Brody, with the incredible Cillian Murphy as the head of the criminal group.

The Punisher

This is the highly-awaited anti-hero spin-off of the much-loved Netflix show, Daredevil. Its release is a prime example of how the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to spread its wings over both Hollywood and digital TV.

The story follows Frank Castle, who controversially uses lethal methods to fight crime as the eponymous vigilante, The Punisher.

Black Lightning

Meanwhile, DC has just released Black Lightning, another show based on a popular comic book series that follows the retired hero Jefferson Pierce as he tries to protect his family from gang crime.

Hitting our screens this month, Black Lightning is the latest exciting chapter for superhero fans.

The Cloverfield Paradox

If you don’t have time to stream a whole TV series, why not watch a Netflix Original Film? The Cloverfield Paradox is the third instalment in the Cloverfield franchise. Set in the very near future, the film focuses on scientists developing technology to solve the planet’s looming energy crisis.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

You’ve read the books, you’ve seen the film, now it’s time to follow the fascinating Baudelaire children on the small screen as they navigate through their dreadful and seemingly cursed lives.

Suitable for families to enjoy, this dark and quirky series based on the tales of Lemony Snicket brings the humorous saga to life in a whole new way.

GLOW

Written by those who created the iconic Orange is the New Black, this is a vibrant 80s feel-good comedy.

It tells the intriguing tale of the lives of the syndicated female wrestling circuit, or the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling as they prefer to be known. Fabulous and fierce!
