2024 has been an epic year for KCOM at the heart of the local community.

As well as celebrating it’s 120th anniversary raising money for its three official charities of the year - Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University – it’s also been busy helping out in local communities, schools and groups right across the KCOM region.

This year KCOM employees have:

  • Delivered 30 IT Drop-in sessions in our Learning Zone – helping older people thrive in a digital world.
  • Seen 2,310 children visit our Learning Zone through our partnership with Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University
  • Donated £12,000 in community grant funding given out to 17 local groups and schools making a difference in their local communities.
  • Presented £53,515 funding to local digital inclusion projects addressing digital poverty, accessibility and skills.
  • Fundraised £19,593.42 for our three charities of the year – Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and Hull and East Yorkshire Children’s University
  • KCOM staff have donated more than 1,000 hours of volunteering time to local community projects.
  • We took part in 50 school and college STEM and wider curriculum-based activities.
  • This year, in partnership with Hull City and Kappa, we donated another 30 full team strips to local youth football teams as part of our KCOM Kits That’s more than 150 kids’ teams – and 2,000 youngsters, that have benefitted since the scheme started.

We love empowering our local communities, improving digital inclusion and helping to make our region a better place to live, work and play. Thank you to all the charities, groups and community organisations who have let us be part of their journeys in 2024 – and we look forward to doing it all over again in 2025!
