The award-winning broadband provider will deploy its full fibre network to the villages of Goxhill and Barrow Upon Humber after significant interest in being connected to ultrafast broadband from both communities.

Dale Raneberg, KCOM chief executive officer, said: “We’re delighted to announce that we can now add Goxhill and Barrow Upon Humber to the list of communities that will soon be connected to KCOM’s ultrafast full fibre network.

“As part of the KCOM family they will be able to access ultrafast speeds on one of the UK’s best full fibre networks. This means they will be able to stream, surf, download and work from home better than ever before, which has become essential for many people this year.”

KCOM announced last month that it would cross the Humber in a historic move to bring its award-winning Lightstream broadband to North Lincolnshire as part of its £100m expansion programme.

The Hull-based broadband provider revealed it will reach households outside its traditional East Yorkshire heartland for the first time in its 116-year history by deploying ultrafast broadband initially to 10,000 properties in the towns of Barton-Upon-Humber and Brigg.

Mr Raneberg said: “When we announced our plans to bring our network to North Lincolnshire we said we would listen very carefully to local communities to gauge the demand for our ultrafast broadband – and that we would build where communities asked us to and the business case could be supported.

“We’ve been really pleased by the demand from the residents of Goxhill and Barrow Upon Humber, showing there’s a real pent-up need for quality broadband in those communities, and we’ll be starting our engineering work to connect them very soon.

“But we won’t stop there. We’d now love to hear from other communities in North Lincolnshire who also feel they could benefit from our full fibre network.”

Other North Lincolnshire communities that KCOM will expand its network to, if there is demonstrable demand from residents, include Broughton, Scawby, Epworth, Haxey, Crowle, Messingham, Hibaldstow and Kirton in Lindsey.

The potential new destinations announced today are the next stage in KCOM’s ambitious expansion plans which have already reached thousands of properties north of the Humber in towns and villages including Goole, Howden, Market Weighton, Pocklington, Driffield and Nafferton.
