It’s the season of goodwill and that means KCOM’s been busy supporting local communities to enjoy their best Christmas.

As a company that’s been at the heart of the region for more than 120 years, KCOM has always played a big role in supporting the communities, groups and charities that help to improve local lives.

But in the run up to the big day this December, KCOM’s elves have been extra busy, helping spread festive cheer far and wide.

In the past few weeks, KCOM’s employees have:

  • Donated 202 hours of staff volunteering time
  • Welcomed 37 children to a special HEY Children’s University Breakfast with Santa event at KCOM with nine KCOM elves helping out on the day
  • Given 65 festive shoeboxes packed with goodies to Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire
  • 20 members of KCOM staff  then helped deliver more than 110 shoeboxes for Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire
  • Presented 101 Warm Hugs Bags to HEY Children’s University Looked after Children programme
  • 19 KCOM colleagues have volunteered at 7 Christmas social groups and 2 Christmas parties
  • We’ve donated 250 Selection Boxes given to Home Start families in Goole as part of the HEY Smile Chances Appeal
  • Also in Goole, we’ve enabled 150 children to experience the magic of live theatre by attending The Junction Theatre’s Christmas panto Sleeping Beauty, in partnership with Goole Town Council
  • 40 toys have been bought and wrapped by staff for the HEY Ukrainian Community Christmas Party with extra funds to support festive food for the children on the day
  • And, not very Christmassy this one, but good for the planet - 6 volunteers out planting 150 Trees with The Conservation Volunteers (TCV)

KCOM Community Impact Partner Louise Babych said: “2025 has been a really busy year for KCOM in the community and this Christmas has been busier than ever. It’s been wonderful to see so many smiling faces during December and to remember what a brilliant community we’re part of.

“2026 promises to be even busier as we continue with a huge range of community activities including our Digital Inclusion Grants, Community Grants, KCOM Kits scheme, employee volunteering, STEM and online safety events for children, IT and Biscuits drop-in sessions for older people and our Community Partnerships with Hull City, Hull Seahawks and Beverley RUFC.

“Thank you to everyone who’s allowed us to be part of their story this year. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as we’ve enjoyed helping out. Happy Christmas!”
