The RSPCA has praised KCOM staff for their generosity after receiving a bumper bunch of donations for its charity shops.

Staff at Carr Lane and Salvesen Way contributed items for the RSPCA Hull & East Riding collection as part of KCOM’s latest charity fundraising efforts. From lampshades to clothes, paintings, books and children’s games, employees donated a wide variety of quality goods which will now be sold at the charity’s fours shops at Beverley, Cottingham, Holderness Road and Hessle.

Collecting the haul, Fundraising Manager Emily Lomas said: “This is great, definitely the most successful collection we’ve had from a local business so far, so a big thank you to KCOM and its staff for taking part.

“Money raised from these items will help cover the cost of vet bills and the daily cost of looking after our animals which, with the cost of living crisis, is always increasing. Our shops are always looking for more stock and remember one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. There are some great quality items here which I’m sure will find new homes while raising money for a good cause.”

The animal charity is entirely self-funded, relying on donations and cash raised in its charity shops to carry out its work. The charity accepts all kinds of items from clothing and bric-a-brac to small electrical items and furniture. It also accepts donations of dog and cat food for the 70 animals it currently cares for at its Clough Road centre.

KCOM Employee Experience Partner Kylie Hill said: “I’ve been bowled over by the generosity of staff donating items which may no longer be of use to them, but still have plenty of life in them and will be appreciated by someone else.

“We have a strong relationship with the RSPCA Hull & East Yorkshire and it’s great to know we’re helping animals who haven’t had the best start in life, before they can find their forever home.”
