What happens if there’s a fibre outage or a power cut?

Let's get your landline fibre ready

OneNetwork

Once you have switched to full fibre, your Optical Network Terminal (ONT) must have power for you to be able to make calls.

Most people have mobile phones which they can use in these circumstances but there are individuals who are reliant on their landlines. For these customers we will fit a battery back-up unit free of charge so power is still delivered to the ONT in the event of a power cut.

The battery back-up unit can last for 24 hours and will enable 1 hours talk time

Something to note

If your broadband or power supply fails you won’t be able to make any landline calls including to the 999 emergency services. In the rare circumstances this happens please use an alternative means to make these calls - for example by using a mobile phone. Feel free to contact us if you feel you need extra support.

Please remember as with any power cut situation, if you have a cordless phone, this will not work, as the base unit relies on a power supply
